The "Internet Explorer 6 is not installed" error message
appears when BMLinkS driver V1.1.1 is used.

Outline
This document describes a problem in BMLinkS driver
V1.1.1 where the "Internet Explorer 6 is not installed"
error message appears when you display the driver's screen
or when you start a search.
Problem
On Windows 2000/XP with Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher
installed, when you display the screen of BMLinkS driver
V1.1.1, or subsequently press the "Search" button on the
Office Services tab to search printers, the "Internet
Explorer 6 is not installed" error message appears.
If the error message appears on the driver's screen,
pressing the "OK" button enables the operation to continue.
However, if the error message appears after you press the
"Search" button, pressing the "OK" button returns to the
original screen and therefore stops you from searching
printers.
Cause
To detect whether MSXML V3.0 or higher is installed, the
driver checks the MSXML version information stored in the
registry. This value is written in lowercase up to SP4 of
MSXML and so can be detected without any problem. However,
starting from SP5, the value is written in uppercase and
therefore cannot be detected correctly.
Remedy status
A modified edition of
driver (V1.1.2) is released where BMLinkS driver's MSXML
version checking routine has been modified so that it can
detect MSXML even if its version information is written in
uppercase.
