On May 19, 2010, at the Japan Business Machine and Information System Industries Association (JBMIA) office in Onarimon, Tokyo, the BMLinkS Project Committee held a press conference to announce document security improvements in multi-vendor environment and to report on BMLinkS project activities.

For document security, the BMLinkS Project Committee announced establishment and publication of a new standard "BMLinkS Information Marking Standard Specification," and held demonstrations. By using the QR Code attached to a document, office devices implementing this standard can track who, when, and with what device the document was copied, or prevent the document from being copied.
